The From Catholic Online : "Adding to the argument that abortion threatens one sector of American society over others, Catherine Davis, president of The Restoration Project, pointed out to the great racial disparity of women currently getting abortions." The article continues: "Davis said that according to the Centers for Disease Control, ... (more)

Then, Ocean56 believes the immorality of abortion is relative to the mother's opinion. I don't suppose the unborn baby's opinion matters.Abortion is immoral because it kills. Sometimes the mother dies during abortion too.
Bitner | Feb 8, 2013
Morals are subjective, not objective. And they ARE relative to the person/group holding them.
cpeter1313 | Feb 8, 2013
Fetuses don't even have an opinion. What a moronic post.Sometimes women die in childbirth. Childbirth must be immoral.

Russia's demographic disaster, Last details, is being exasperated by the fact that abortions are outpacing live births in Russia. "Abortion is rampant, with 13 abortions performed for every 10 live births," writes Last. "Consider that for a moment: Russians are so despondent about the future that they have 30 percent more abortions than births."Last says that "This might be the most grisly statistic the world has ever seen. It suggests a society that no longer has the will to live."

Russia's economy is far worse thn ours; many just cannot afford to bear children. This could also be an example of a will so strong that they will do what must be done to survive lean times.
cpeter1313 | Feb 8, 2013
How does that negte what I said? Putin wants more kids around; he's not concerned about how the parents will be able to support them. You think russian wmen all decided to stop having kids for no reason?
Morgana 9 | Feb 8, 2013
Because they made a choice for a better life for themselves? HOW DARE THEY???
What if women stopped having children because they simply refused in other words they refused men? Then what? Are you going to insist it is their duty and legitimize rape? The entire issue evolves around freedom, how limited would you like it to be for "women"? To "expect" is not respect. Women deserve the best, better figure out how to accommodate them as opposed to regulating them as incubators, and subjecting them to misogynistic beliefs.
cpeter1313 | Feb 8, 2013
He's creating jobs. Not nearly enough to pay for all the new mouths they will need to feed. What he is paying these women is a pittance compared to the years they ill need to raise the kid.BTW--is there a difference between this and prostitution, except the government being one's pimp?
Brian_G | Feb 9, 2013
"To "expect" is not respect", I greatly respect people who exceed expectations. The abortion issue isn't about freedom, it's about murder of the innocent unborn.Brian_G | Feb 9, 2013
The left destroyed Russia; their population is in decline.Abortion threatens America, as much as it threatens the rest of the world.
Ocean56 | Feb 9, 2013
You can say "abortion is immoral" all you want, it doesn't change anything. The ONLY person who decides whether or not to continue a pregnancy is the WOMAN who is pregnant. If it isn't YOUR pregnancy, it isn't your decision.
Ocean56 | Feb 9, 2013
YOU don't get to decide what the abortion issue is about for me or anyone else but yourself. I think the abortion issue IS about freedom, the freedom of a woman to decide for HERSELF whether or not to continue a pregnancy.
Anti-choicers like you want to take that freedom of choice away from women by making abortion illegal. Sorry (not really), but we're not about to let that happen.
Brian_G | Feb 9, 2013
By Ocean56's logic, either a woman who has an abortion is performing an immoral act and immorality has no meaning, it is relative. Men have a right to voice opinion on abortion because some would be fathers. But abortion means the death of an innocent unborn by intent, murder. I prefer adoption.
Brian_G | Feb 9, 2013
We get to voice our view of the abortion issue and everyone has the right to listen. Everyone is responsible, abortion isn't a woman's issue because every unborn innocent murdered by abortion deprives a father of a child..
I think the abortion issue is about responsibility; accepting the fact every life has infinite value and doing everything to preserve life and deter death. This is where we differ.
.
I've never advocated "tak[ing] that freedom of choice away from women by making abortion illegal", those are Ocean56's words, not mine. I only want to call it what it is, murder. I leave it to the legal eagles like Ocean56, to discuss changing law; that's not my thing.
Calling abortion a woman's issue is unfair to woman for overburden. Every pregnancy is the result of male/female intercourse, the responsibility isn't the female's alone. Everyone has a right to voice their view of morality; we live in a free society.

Types of Complications from Surgical Abortion Although rare, possible complications from a surgical abortion procedure include:blood clots accumulating in the uterus, requiring another suctioning procedure, (less than 0.2% of cases); 9 infections, most of which are easily identified and treated if the woman carefully observes follow-up instructions, (0.1%-2.0% of North American cases); 9 a tear in the cervix, which may be repaired with stitches (0.6%-1.2% of cases); 10 perforation (a puncture or tear) of the wall of the uterus and/or other organs (less than 0.4% of cases). 5,9 This may heal itself or may require surgical repair or, rarely, hysterectomy; missed abortion, which does not end the pregnancy and requires the abortion to be repeated (less than 0.3% of cases); 9 incomplete abortion, in which tissue from the pregnancy remains in the uterus, and requires a repeat suction procedure, (0.3%-2.0% of cases); 9 excessive bleeding requiring a blood transfusion (0.02%-0.3% of cases). 5,10
Death occurs in 0.0006% of all legal surgical abortions (one in 160,000 cases). These rare deaths are usually the result of such things as adverse reactions to anesthesia, embolism, infection, or uncontrollable bleeding. 9 In comparison, a woman's risk of death during pregnancy and childbirth is ten times greater. 5
Possible complications of a medical abortion include:
failure of the medications to terminate the pregnancy (less than 2% of cases), requiring a suction procedure to complete the abortion; 11 incomplete expulsion of the products of conception, requiring a suction procedure to complete the abortion (occurs in less than 6% of cases); 12 excessive bleeding, requiring a suction procedure, and rarely, transfusion (less than 1% of cases); 11 uterine infection, requiring the use of antibiotics (0.09%-0.6% of cases) ; 11 death secondary to toxic shock following infection with Clostridium sordellii (has occurred in less than 0.001% of cases in the US and Canada). 6
Signs of a Post-Abortion Complication If a woman has any of the following symptoms after having either a surgical or medical abortion, she should immediately contact the facility that provided the abortion for follow-up care 13 :
severe or persistent pain; chills or fever with an oral temperature of 100.4° or more; bleeding that is twice the flow of her normal menstrual period or that soaks through more than one sanitary pad per hour for two hours in a row; malodorous discharge or drainage from her vagina; or continuing symptoms of pregnancy.
Ocean56 | Feb 9, 2013
I never said men didn't have a right to voice an opinion on abortion. They -- and you -- can express that OPINION all they want. You just don't get to force women to live by your anti-choice opinions. Nor do you get to force women to stay pregnant and give birth against their will. Yes, I know that's tough for anti-choice guys to accept. Too bad.
Motherhood is still OPTIONAL, not required. That means a woman can reject motherhood for any reason including the most basic one; she DOESN'T want to be a mother.
Ocean56 | Feb 9, 2013
No one is disputing that. What you seem to have real issues with is the fact that people can REJECT the anti-choice views of abortion and EACH woman can decide for HERSELF whether or not to continue a pregnancy.
Bottom line; you can whine about abortion all you want. It still doesn't change the fact that NO woman has to stay pregnant, give birth, and be a mother unless she WANTS to do so.
